Newbie with crazzzzy questionsback

eechick:ee I just purchase a momma and 5 chicks from a local farmer a few weeks ago. No idea what breed they are. Momma is a   yellowish/peach color, she has 3 chicks that are almost the same color a tad darker, one blackish/brown and one that is white with black polka dots. Any idea what breed they might be? Can't find any matching pics.  The chicks are about 9-10 weeks old.
If one of the chicks turns out to be a rooster, and the hen hatches out some chicks do we have to seperate them from others?
Are chicks hatched out during the winter months? I noticed you can only buy chicks until August.

Be gentle I am a newbie with chickens/chicks

greet  and  welcome

It is impossible to tell what breeds you might have without seeing a pic.  If you don't know how to post pics, this should help you.......

A hen will go broody anytime so winter chicks are more common than you think.   When this happens, the mama hen will protect the chicks and the rest of the flock usually accepts the chicks without any problems.

There are hens out there that don't take to the chicks and you have to intervene.  Unfortunately, you won't know this unless she hatches some.

Yeah...pictures would be VERY helpful.

As far as if the hen will go broody...that will depend on the breed. Even some breeds that are suppose to go broody will not, it really depends on the hen.

..and welcome
