I am considering keeping my girls in the house part time... I was wondering what you guys think of diapers? Some people think it's wrong to put a diaper on a animal.. so, i was wondering what you guys think of it.

Alex, if you plan on keeping them in the house, diapers are a necessity UNLESS you want to be pooper scooping all day long!

Okay
that's what I was thinking. I just didnt know if people thought it might be wrong to make them wear them.

Being a noob to CC I'm getting in late on this issue, but what on earth could be "wrong" with putting diapers on a chicken? Putting nappies on pet chickens so they can come in the house to enjoy love and treats and climate control may be a little weird in some people's eyes, but compared to things we humans do to chickens every freaking day it doesn't even make the tiniest blip on the wrong-o-meter.

Haha, okay. Thanks.
So, I made diapers for them.. but.. i have a problem. When I put it on dot, she just sits down, and will not walk. What do i do?

Sounds like our cat when we put a leash on him! Seriously, I don't know what to do except leave it on her until she gets used to it and decides that it's no big deal.

I used a chicken diaper on a handicapped house chicken that I used to have. She hated it, but I was having to wrestle it on a sassy SLW with a bad leg. When she outgrew it, I opted to confine her to certain areas when she was in the house at night or during bad weather and skip using a diaper. She didn't fly up and get on the table or counter tops either, therefore her messes weren't that much trouble to clean. Make sure you have some Nature's Miracle or some other enzyme-based pet cleaner.
If you use a diaper, you have to take into consideration that a hen might lay an egg in her diaper. The diapers do trap moisture against the skin if worn constantly, so make sure she has plenty of diaper-free time.
