Hens quit laying
I hauled off three black snakes this summer that were in the nests eating the eggs. The hens started laying in the yard because they were afraid to go into the nests, and now they have quit laying altogether. How long will it take for them to get over the trauma and start laying again?

If they went back to laying in the yard, it's not the snake trauma that causing them not to lay.
Its normal behavior for hens to take a break from laying, some last maybe 2 or 3 weeks, others take a while longer.

Have they started to molt? I know they slow down in the summer. Put that together with the snake and no wonder they quit in ya~
