General Rules
Be nice to people
Do not flame people.
No racist remarks of any kind will be tolerated.
Concerns and complaints should be directed to the original poster through Private message or to the forum administrator through private message and never on the board.
Vigilantism is not allowed on this forum, all trolls, flames and other similar problems should be reported to the administration by private message and never posted in open forum.
You may also use the "report button"
Netiquette
If you don't know what it is, you should know before posting on any website.
Netiquette is acting in a polite and/or appropriate way when talking to people on the internet.
Some important things to remember when posting a message or a response to people on a board such as CC:
DO NOT USE ALL CAPS- This indicates that you are yelling.
Use emoticons when possible to convey your feelings.
It can be hard to read the emotional content of a poster in written form, emoticons( smilies) can help to convey the meaning you intend to express.

Use sarcasm, humor and the like, when it is appropriate to do so.
Funny stories, arguments, venting, all have their place, but choose when and where to express these things with forethought, and make sure you post them in the appropriate place.
If someone posts a message about their dog dieing, this may remind you of a funny story that you wish to tell people about, the best way to go about telling this story is - Don't!
You may later decide to post the story in your own thread, but be considerate of the feelings of the person who posted, the post content that they have started, and do not reply with inappropriate comments, this is called:

Hijacking:
Although some threads lend themselves to a random collection of ideas that evolve over time, many don't.
The act of taking a thread in a direction that was not the intent of the original post is referred to as Hijacking and is not proper Netiquette.
If someone posts a question about food supplements, do not add an unrelated question to their thread, or make a comment that has nothing to do with food supplements.
Example 2 If someone makes a post about Barred Rocks and asks for others to post their pictures of that breed, it is not appropriate to post pictures of another breed.
Example three: it is ok to post pictures in a thread that discusses a breed or asks others to post pictures, or if someone asks a question that can be answered by posting a picture; however, it would be bad Netiquette to post a picture of your birds in a thread that was intended to show off the birds of another ( unless they specifically asked for others to post)
The main point when it comes to Hijacking is, when in doubt, start a new thread.

Flaming: is not allowed!
Flaming is the intentional assault on a person or the content of a persons thread.
While debate is ok on this forum, in the debate forum, attacking another meber is never ok.
If a member has caused some problem, please contact them directly through PM or E-mail and /or contact the administrator through private message or e-mail;
Again Vigilantism is not allowed on this forum! ( don't take matters in your own hands and post a message in open forum in an effort to expose someone - this is called Vigilantism)'

Pornography: Is not allowed!
This includes links to pornography.

Moderation:
Although there are a couple people on staff to help me spot problems,
All members of this forum have the ability to report problems,and to ensure that CC remains a fun and a friendly place for all, please contact the administrator by Private message if you have any concerns or complaints.

Link exchanges:
If you have a link to your website in your profile, please add a link back to CC.
If you wish to establish a link exchange with CC, please contact me and let me know.
Please do not link to sites that cannot or will not link back to CC, without the express consent of the administrator.
Use of chickencrossing, in any way, to direct it's members to other chicken message boards is strictly prohibited.
Chicken sites who have arranged a link exchange with me, can be linked to at any time by anyone.
Websites such as feathersite, hendersons chicken breed chart, etc.. have link exchanges with CC and may always be linked to via hot link.

Contacting the administrator:
Please use the private messaging system on the message baord to contact me.
Avoid sending me e-mails.
If you have a complaint about another member, please be specific and include a link to any offensive remarks they may have made.

The main goal of CC is to provide a place where diverse ideas can thrive and people of a wide range of beliefs can come together and express themselves without feeling like they may say the wrong thing; however, that does not give people the right to openly flame others, hijack threads or anything that violates the first rule of the forum: Be nice to people.
Follow the rules set forth for each portion of the forum and use good judgement and compassion where appropriate, when responding to others posts, and CC will remain the happiest chicken place on the internet.
