d'Anvers Post Pictures of Yours

This is my fav breed of chicken.  The pullets are very sweet and docile, tend to get pushed around a lot.  But as hens, they are much pushier, although still very tame.  Actually called Belgian Bearded d'Anvers.

Basic info:  Hens are very small, weighing in at under 2 lbs.  Roos are heavier by a handful of ounces.  Roosters are said to have the potential to be aggressive (have owned two, neither was aggressive), and are cocky little guys.  They have a rose comb and a beard.  Most common type is Quail coloring, but many other varieties exist.  Not a great layer.

Here are my two (sold to me from a breeder as "Blue Splash.  Someone else stated they were just "Splash"??):

RockyB.  Great little Roo.

Jane (moulting and looks like crap right now.. sorry)

Info listed above gleaned from Feathersite, from the Handy Dandy Chicken Chart, and from McMurray website.

They haven't arrived from the breeder yet (we probably wont get them for another month) but we're very excited! They're self blue (lavender)

The hens are a bit rough from breeding pens, and are missing the bottom feathers on their tail so they aren't as fanned as they will be :bfs

Re: d'Anvers Post Pictures of Yours

THEY'RE HERE! YAY FOR COMING EARLY! big_smile They are absolutely beautiful. These pictures don't do them justice, I'll try to take pictures of them in sunlight. One of the hens is in a terrible molt however ,and managed to somehow get her beard soaked and dirty so she looks hideous, so she's only in one of the pictures lol
