3 mo old Kitty issues...

I have a 3 mo old kitty we adopted after my Crash disappeared. He is very pretty, loving, etc. But, he has an issue. I find it hilarious but want to make sure it's okay...

He nurses on anything and everything. He's far beyond the age that I've seen them do this! He'll find a blankie, pillow, Lucifer (my other, MALE, cat) and I even caught him nursing on my pants while I was sleeping...

Is this normal? I have only had 3 cats, and this within the last 2 years. So I have no clue why he's doing it!!

Yep.. I have had many kittens who had done that (Like a child sucking a thumb).  The cat I have now is a year old and she didn't stop suckling on stuff until she was about 5 months old.  My sister has a cat that still... as an adult... will steal a hair scrunchy and suck on it! (I have never had an adult do it)

Re: 3 mo old Kitty issues...

yup - there are varying theories as to why they do it, from weaned to early to nursed too long...  bottom line is that it's a self-comforting behavior.  my grandma had a cat that suckled on her afghan throw blankets until she died in her teens.

animals are silly.

picture of the kitten?  pictures, pictures???  big_smile
