Unnatural?

My male canary died.  He did well and fathered many birds.  All of which were male 'cept 3.  I sold the males and kept two hens.
Now that the male is dead... I have 2 girls (one sings!) that keep laying and sitting on infertile eggs.  So...  yesterday I removed their tiny 4 eggs and replaced them with 2 quail eggs.  They are acting like they are sitting on their own.  Dunno if it will last but since they are insistent upon being broody I figured I'd give them something to not waste their time.  I just need to be sure I put the eggs in a hatcher or those little birds are going to poop when a giant overactive bird pops out!  shock
(I am looking for a new male but I am real picky)

Re: Unnatural?

Hopefully they will set for you!

Wonder if they'll try to feed them?

Re: Unnatural?

They are still sitting on them LOL
We'll see.  The nests are up high in the cage so the hatcher is a must if they make it that far.
I am sure they would try to feed them...  mercy what a difference between a naked helpless baby canary and a hyperactive fluff ball!
